HOWDY

Well welcome to summer in Florida! Good God has it been hot or what? I do believe that this must be the hottest I have seen for a long, long while. There’s nothing new on the homefront. Jacob is still in community college and working hard to get his AA. Since the school let out I have been bustling around the house cleaning, washing, cutting the lawn and soon I will put some new plants in the front flower bed.

The radio show is going well and soon I will be adding some “live” guest in the studio. The show is on WSLR 96.5 alternate Wednesdays from 7pm - 9pm. I also will be manning the WSLR table at the Farmers Market in downtown Sarasota on July 6th and August 3rd. If you are out and about stop by and say HOWDY!

I do have a few performances coming up. On July 14th I will be performing along with others at the Dearborn Plaza in downtown Englewood. This event goes from 3pm - 6pm. On July 27th I will be performing in benefit for my friends at the ACMA listening room for the Florida Musicians Food Initiative in Ft Myers. All proceeds go to feed the local food bank. I will be doing another show with my FMFI friends at the Oasis Coffee House in Safety Harbor on August 17th.

So that’s about it for me. If you need more information concerning any of these shows or events contact me at folkie3@verizon.net

Cya Soon!

Welcome

HOWDY,

Hey Folks, I hope all is well with you. I am sorry for not posting sooner but I have been very busy.

I just got back from the Lake County Folk Festival. It was a wonderful time. The whole festival was centered around the downtown Eustis area. Eustis is a beautiful old time Florida town just north of Lakeland. And to make it even better there was a real train that road through the area throughout the day. WOW this place is simply magical.

So next in line will be the Barberville Folk & Arts Festival. This place is a truly amazing place just about 80 miles south of St Augustine. The folks there have taken historical buildings that were about to be torn down, restored them and placed them in a park to resemble a small Florida town. This place has to be seen to be believed. This festival will happen the first weekend of November. Check the performance page for details. www.pioneersettlement.org

I also have one more bit of news to tell you, I am on the radio! That’s right I have a radio show called “Acoustic Waves” on WSLR 96.5 lpfm out of Sarasota. This show is on alternate Wednesdays from 7pm - 9pm. So if you are not in Sarasota itself go to www.wslr.org and listen in on the internet.

I hope to see you soon! James

HOWDY;

Well I hope Santa was good to everybody this year. When he stopped here he was very generous to us! Things have stepped up as of lately and I couldn't be happier. Jacob is staying in school, Lisa is preparing to do a Half Marathon in Key West in about mid-January. The both of us will be running in the Sarasota Half Marathon and the Gasparilla Half Marathon. That’s A LOT OF RUNNING! It looks like with some pushing that “Turn Back Time” just might be gaining momentum. As of the writing of this I got the news that I will be performing at the Lemon Bay Cracker Festival on February 9th and the Charlotte County Environmental center on February 28th. I am still chasing the ever elusive title of “Sarasota County Teaching Artist” it is still just remains beyond my reach. I am closing in but as I do there are more opportunities opening up. As the saying goes when one door closes another one opens up.

Since the last time we talked I have started a Radio show on WSLR 96.5 Community Radio in Sarasota. It is a show called “Acoustic Waves”and it is on Alternative Wednesday Nights. The first show for 2019 will be January 9th. www.wslr.org

I for one am ALWAYS up for a good time anywhere but it looks like Lisa, Jacob and I will be staying close to the nest this New Years Eve. We might head to downtown Sarasota to walk around for a while, but I’ve gotta get these two home before they turn into pumpkins! LOL

As the year come to a close I can't help but think of the folks we've had to say goodbye to and of the folks I have had the pleasure to meet. So Love to One and All. Stay Safe and I’ll see you around the campfires!

James
